Summary
Infrastructure
The complete infrastructure includes several components. In a small scale environment, all the components will be installed on a single computer. On larger organizations, the components will be installed on different computers. You have first to decide what configuration fits the best your organization. Of course, if in the future you need to change the configuration, only a few changes will be necessary. One thing to remember: it does not make sense to install XStudio and XAgent on the same computer since XStudio “includes” natively XAgent.
Some representative configurations are showed here:
Standalone Configuration
In this configuration, all the components are centralized in a single computer. XAgent is therefore unnecessary. The database is not backuped so it is a security issue.
Slightly Distributed Configuration
In this configuration, the database is hosted on a dedicated server. The main computer of this configuration (hosting XStudio) can run some test campaigns locally as well as on a third party computer (hosting XAgent). Some tests are stored on again another PC accessible by the agent, some others are directly stored on the main computer. In this configuration the database is backuped on the main computer.

Web Configuration

This shows only a few possibilities. Every combination is working although this can have an impact on performances and flexibility. At this stage you will have to properly design your infratructure. This can be impacted by various criteria such as:
- Security issues
- Geographical organization
- Network constraints
- Available equipments
- Etc.
